چکیده
Background & Objectives: Maintenance of nutrition status a patient is paramount importance toclinicians treating medical or surgical diseases. Enteral preferred over parental inpatients who are unable to swallow. Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) the routeof nutritional support in patients with functional gastrointestinal system require long-term enteralnutrition and maintain oral intake. PEG offers superior access systemover methods. We aim see utility percutaneous for patientswith oropharyngeal dysphagia secondary neurological deficits its effect on quality life thesepatients.Methodology: we studied retrospectively 25 last 2years needing insertion. We reviewed data 3 months post insertion PEG. Studywas based body weight, haemoglobin serum albumin level prior after All complicationsincluding sepsis, perforation, hemorrhage death were recorded. Results: Our study showed significant improvement levels hemoglobin, weight gain afterPercutaneous gastrostomy. There no major complication. Conclusion: EndoscopicGastrostomy an easy procedure that can be done bedside withoutcomplications deficit. It improves alsoprevents aspiration pneumonia good gastric motility.

Study of Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy Outcomes
Background and Objective: Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is the technique of choice for providing enteral access to patients who require long-term enteral nutrition. This study was performed to evaluate the outcomes and complications of PEG. Materials and Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 77 patients (45 men, 32 women; age mean: 58.9±19.7 years, Min: 14 years, Max: 89 Years)...
متن کاملNutritional support via percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy.
Nutritional support is often an integral part of patient management. There are three principal access routes used for nutrient delivery: oral, enteral (tube feeding) and parenteral. Tube feeding is indicated for those patients who, in the presence of a functional gastrointestinal tract, cannot, should not or will not consume adequate nutrition orally. A number of different routes may be used in...

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS Insertion of a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is standard care for many patients with oropharyngeal (ENT) and esophageal malignancies in order to ensure enteral feeding. The current pull-through insertion technique involves direct contact with the tumor and case reports have demonstrated the presence of metastases at insertion sites. The aim of the current s...

OBJECTIVE To compare percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy and nasogastric tube feeding in patients with persisting neurological dysphagia. DESIGN Randomised 28 day study of inpatients requiring long term enteral nutrition. SETTING Three Glasgow teaching hospitals. SUBJECTS 40 patients with dysphagia for at least four weeks secondary to neurological disorders: 20 patients (10 women) were ra...
متن کاملDifferent Clinical Utility of Oropharyngeal Bacterial Screening prior to Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy in Oncological and Neurological Patients
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to monitor oropharyngeal bacterial colonization in patients indicated for percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy (PEG). METHODS Oropharyngeal swabs were obtained from patients prior to PEG placement. A development of peristomal infection was evaluated. The analysis of oropharyngeal and peristomal site pathogens was done. RESULTS Consecutive 274 patients refe...
